Is this likely to be a hardware fault? Are any of the drivers on this page the ones I need? 64 I hadn't made any changes before this occurred. While I've found the driver page for the motherboard on the MSI website it isn't obvious if any of those include the usb host controller. I'm only able to even use the computer now through the PS/2 port for keyboard, controlling mouse via numpad, and with wifi in the one working 3.1 gen 2 port. My USB 2.0 ports weren't (and still aren't) working, so it's not just 3.0. I tried updating the drivers through windows, which changed it to USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller, but I've ended up stuck in the same place with the same errors. It was originally Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft). The requested operation was unsuccessful. I've tracked it down to the USB host controller through device manager - it has an error icon on it, and in the properties screen it says this in device status: Yesterday my USB ports stopped working except for the one USB 3.1 gen 2 port.
